I tried the Atkins Diet. I initially lost weight (about 12 lbs) and then the weight loss just stopped. then I went onto the internet searching for reasons for this, and found a support group that stated it really does make a difference how many calories you take in. And dear Dr Atkins specifically said that as long as you watch you carbs, you don't have to count calories as well, but now I am wondering if Atkins really is all it is made out to be. If it is such a great diet, why do so many many regain the weight so easily? Granted many people lose relatively quickly, but how many actually keep it off? Must say, the members on this little support group for the Atkins Diet didn't do much better than I did. Most of them are now a year later still battling the same plateaus and they are trying so hard....something must be wrong somewhere. I just feel so defeated - as if there really is no real cure for obesity.

I don't care what anyone says. The Atkins Diet is the only way for me. I've tried other diets and it just doesn't work as well. I must admit - I do get fed-up with bacon and eggs for breakfast though. I know it is all about being creative with food to make it more exciting but I am just not that way inclined so I have to stick to the basics. If you read Atkins and think about human evolution, it just becomes absolutely clear that this is the only way to go. So back to induction for me. I think fitting into my favorite jeans again is worth the dreaded bacon and eggs in the morning!

A girl after my own heart. I re-discovered Atkins only recently, and cannot believe I never really considered the diet up to now. I tried just about every other diet and was just not losing weight! Now that I have been on Atkins for a month, I have already lost 10 pounds, I feel absolutely great, and all my night time cravings have disappeared! Great article. I think it provides great insight as to why we all regarded the Atkins diet as one of the most dangerous things to do! Shows you also to trust what you see and experience more that you do the so-called experts of the day, who by the way are still stuck on low fat for the most part.
